Office
Many offices now have vending machines in corridors, or available in the self-service catering area. Many London offices have gone further, installing bean-to-cup espresso machines - often on each floor - to fuel their staff throughout the day with fresh cappuccinos and lattes. 'Out of Order' signs, however, have frustrated many of the smaller offices and now 1-group espresso machines are carving a niche due to:
- Price. They are extremely good value, with all of the functionality of their big brothers
- Versatility. Their large boilers and elements mean no waiting for the kettle to boil. Not just coffee, but hot chocolate and tea are readily available. You don't even have to froth milk if you don't want too. Make an espresso, add hot water and milk and you have an Americano - quick and fresh
- Reliability. Shred the 'Out of Order' sign and take a coffee break. Designed for commercial use, an office is well within it's capabilities
- Usability. Surprisingly simple to operate, with DVD, paper and online tutorials for those who aren't sure
- Image. Thousands spent on signage, brochures and showrooms - only to offer an instant coffee when they arrive! Many smaller offices (especially those of creative services) love the chic and personal image given to their visitors by a traditional espresso machine
The addition of a pod conversion (right) would also mean that you don't even have to learn to use and maintain a separate coffee grinder. You can just buy pre-dosed 'pods' of your favourite coffee blend (much like large tea bags!), put them straight in to the filter holder and select your drink.
